Disney's Elemental movie - not really a bad movie but a good one
I have seen the Disney Elemental movie on Disney Plus.
I read that it didn't do well at the theaters. I don't know how well it would do at the the streaming service. It is how I watched it.
I have read that one of the characters was supposed to have been 'non-binary'. I didn't notice that in the movie. It is either because I try to watch the movie without being too critical of it or because it might not have been there. Perhaps it failed because someone pre-judged the movie from what others have said about it?
I really enjoyed the movie. It seems to be about immigrants trying to blend in but having reservations because of previous experiences leading to certain biases or prejudices. It shows how they overcome those biases and judgements by getting to know each other. It shows - at the end - how they can overcome prejudices and biases one might have for other groups. It shows one cannot condemn the whole group because of the few (something that happens a lot today).
It is like a modern version of Romeo and Juliette. People who don't normally mix or come together but doing so despite what their respective families think. It had a sad part near the end but - unlike Romeo and Juliette - has a happy ending. It is a variation of the 'opposites attract' which is reflected in the 'opposites react' slogan.
I think everyone can enjoy this movie. I know I did. My brother enjoyed it too.
